About us
The Scottish Islands Research Network is being formed as part of a research project funded by the British Academy Early Career Researcher Network. This project is being led by Dr Rosie Alexander, University of the West of Scotland; Dr Bobby Macaulay, University of the Highlands and Islands; and Dr Becky Ford, University of the Highlands and Islands, with support from a wide network of island researchers and communities across Scotland.
The funded part of the project runs from April 2024 to September 2024. It comprises:
- Research with 20 Scottish island communities on their experiences of engaging with researchers, and on their needs from research and researchers.
- Research with Scottish island researchers on their experiences of working in the islands and their research interests.
Ultimately out of the project we will create a report which includes a research agenda for future Scottish island research.
Although we are funded only for a short time, we hope that the project will evolve into a longer-term network for islands researchers and island communities. So please get in touch if you are interested in joining us!
