The Island Futures research project, funded by the British Academy Early Career Researcher Network, looked at the experiences of research in the Scottish Islands.
Along with the Island Futures Final Project Report, the project published a set of guidelines for researchers working in island communities. These guidelines are intended to be:
- A reflective tool for researchers to help them think through their research projects
- A tool for researchers to articulate and / or justify their needs to funders, supervisors, university administrators, and ethics committees or other stakeholders.
- A tool for island communities to use when approached by researchers, to articulate their needs.
The Scottish Islands Research Network will continue to develop, manage and review these guidelines over the coming years. If you want to be involved in helping to take this work forward please consider joining the Scottish Islands Research Network – you can join whether you are a researcher, a representative of an island community organisation, or just an individual interested in Scottish Islands research.
